Tailoring course to empower rural women
Every year, the CSR team arranges a one-year tailoring programme to enhance the skills of the women in villages in Rajarhat. The programme is designed to make the women self-reliant and empowered. Three women from each batch have been adjudged as best trainees and awarded with sewing machines as an incentive to start working instantly from the comfort of their homes.
Driving lessons to increase employability
Ambuja Neotia, in association with a NGO of repute, undertook the opportunity to train youths in four-wheeler driving. A group of 15 young individuals with limited academic exposure, from the rural pockets of Jelebheri, Khudirabad, Sahid Colony, Daspara,and Ranabhutia, was selected for driving lessons. And within five months, these youths turned into skilled drivers with valid driving licences. Presently, all of them are earning a livelihood as professional drivers.
Beautician Training for women
As part of the women empowerment initiative, Ambuja Neotia organized a 6-month training programme for budding beauticians. A group of 15 women were selected as per their economic condition and comprehensive training imparted on areas of grooming, derma hygiene and safety, manicure and pedicure, basics of hair dressing, skin analysis, makeup techniques and chemical treatments. Almost all of them are today earning members in their family. The first batch’s success has pushed us to launch the 3rd batch of training which is presently on.
Digital Literacy and Business English Training for College Students
Ambuja Neotia, in association with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Government College at Rajarhat, is implementing a 6-month programme on digital literacy and Business English with 20 students per batch hailing from all corners of Rajarhat. The faculties from the field of Computer Science and English are offering regular lessons on communications and computers. The students, after the successful completion of the course, are offered placements and many of them today are working professionals.
Training on soft toy making for 30 underprivileged women
A 3-month comprehensive training session was organised for 30 underprivileged women in Rajarhat. Under the guidance of a Rajarhat-based NGO, these women completed the course in 30 sessions learnt how to make soft toys like parrots, elephants, giraffes and dogs. This training has increased the possibility of the women to earn a living for their family.
LPG oven repair & maintenance
October turned into a month of celebrations as 20 youths hailing from the neighbourhood of Canal Side Road completed their course on ‘LPG oven repair & maintenance’. It was organized with Ramakrishna Mission Lokasiksha Parishad, The course also included entrepreneurial training on customer dealing, pricing and safety measures. At the end of the course, these youths were given government approved certificates and business kits comprising range and other instruments. Today they have started making a living as ‘gas mechanics’.
